Building a quiet-luxury swimwear identity from a single word

Willow Swim arrived as a name and an ambition — to launch a premium swimwear label in Miami that could stand beside references like VIX Paula Hermanny and Sommer Swim. There was no logo, no palette, no visual language; only a feeling the founder wanted to capture: Mediterranean ease, sun-warmed skin, and effortless femininity. The challenge was to translate that intangible mood into a complete, ownable identity system. Working closely with the founder through moodboards, palette studies, and iterative logo exploration, the brand was built from the ground up — anchored in a warm tonal palette, a custom W-and-palm monogram, and an editorial sensibility designed to make the label feel established from day one. The result is a brand that feels less like a startup and more like a house that has always existed.

Finding the Visual Language

The identity began not with design, but with listening. Through a series of curated moodboards and palette explorations, the brand’s world slowly came into focus.

The discovery process focused on:

• translating reference brands into an ownable direction

building a warm, tonal palette rooted in skin and sand

exploring logo routes from script to geometric minimalism

defining a monogram that could live anywhere

establishing an editorial, sun-drenched art direction

 

The goal was to make the brand feel active, modern, and memorable online, not just at the physical stand. The goal was to arrive at an identity that felt inevitable — warm, refined, and unmistakably the founder’s own.
